NEW residents

Dear New Resident(s) of Preston Lake,

Welcome to Preston Lake, one of southern Ontario's finest communities.

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our Preston Lake Community Association better known as the PPL (Pride & Preston Lake).

The Pride and Preston Lake Association is a group of residents united in protecting and preserving Preston Lake and its surroundings. We work in conjunction with our many sponsors, some of which include the Town of Whitchurch Stouffville, the Toronto Region & Conservation Authority (TRCA), the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the TD Friends of the Environment.

We are very proud of our many accomplishments and highly encourage you to download a complimentary copy of our Preston Lake Homeowner's Guide and to view a portion of our Preston Lake Management Plan from our web site. Both these documents are award winning and they hold many answers that most of our new homeowners have. More importantly these documents are instrumental in keeping our lake and community safe for future generations.

In addition to the documents listed above, it is important that we stress to all new homeowner's the significance of our lake, shorelines and fish habitats. As most homeowner's are aware the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville governs property regulations with respect to building and construction within our Municipality.

When it comes to the Lake however, a different governing body is in charge. The Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) in conjunction with the Toronto Region and Conservation Authority is responsible for all of Preston Lake and its shorelines. As a result new homeowners need to be aware that any shoreline, waterline or lake projects must be approved by the DFO.   In the event that you are considering such a project please review the official TRCA Property Clearance Application form that must be submitted to them along with three (3) copies of a site plan and one (1) copy of a legal site survey.   The details are included in this form. For more information click here.

It's with continued cooperation from our residents that we are able to maintain one of the cleanest and most efficient kettle lakes in Southern Ontario. We once again welcome you to our wonderful community and we look forward to working with you in preserving our lake. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Your Pride & Preston Lake Committee.
